Radioembolization: Radioembolization is used to deliver tiny beads combined with a radiation isotope called Y90 directly to the tumor. The “half life” of the radiation is 64 hrs, so every 64 hrs the radiation level falls by ½ until it's effectively gone after 2 wks. The beads are injected into the artery supplying blood to tumor are trapped in the tumor’s vascular bed where they destroy the tumor cells by radiation.
