Respectfully, why does it seem that the there is typically the diagnosis of a root fracture prior to extraction? someone seems to be guessing?

Diagnosis: is based on x-ray evaluation and direct examination. Common causes would be infection, ,trauma or periodontal disease.

Not typical dx: Extractions are often necessary due to a tooth being unrestorable or having periodontal bone loss. In certain situations when there is pain on a tooth where there is no other visible or measurable signs, it is suspected that a fracture is present. Fractures are often not visible clinically or on a radiograph. If the tooth is hopeless it's hopeless, fracture or not.
