No: GERD does not cause stomach cancer. It can slightly increase the risk of esophageal cancer, however. Most people who have chronic GERD require medication to keep the heartburn under control, although avoiding particular foods which cause it, avoiding caffeine and alcohol, tilting the bed, and avoiding large meals before bedtime can also help.
