Probably not: The long term effect of loud music is to damage the inner workings of hearing so that lowered vision and even deafness can result later in life. Some find quiet music relaxing and helpful for sleep but your teenager is probably getting blasted with decent quality headphones. Try and get him to lower the intensity or try to get to sleep with no sound.

No: Anytime a teen listens to hard loud music thru headsets may lead to hearing loss. Plus listening to music with words or tv keeps the brain stimulated as hearing never quits processing. Try substituting a sleep sound machine as many of us sleep better with constant droning. Like any bad habit be prepared for resistance! Teens never think bad things will happen. Be patient but firm on your request.
