Soft music is fine: Soft music is a nice addition to an infants "comfort place" where you let them nap or sleep for the night. Babies are use to noise in the womb & heartbeats & digestive sounds were their norm so a little music is fine, or the sound of a fan or radio static. Plan to leave it on all night or the baby may startle & cry if they awaken & it is gone.

Likely no difference: A parent's goal is to have a baby sleep well in the family environment, whether the home is quiet, has other noisy kids, is next to freeway traffic, or is full of music. It's fine to use soft music or lullabies to help with sleep. There is likely no difference in the development of babies who do not listen to music while sleeping, compared with those babies who do listen to music while asleep.

Interesting Study: Just published-a study demonstrating that children with seizures had a decreased frequency of their episodes when listening regularly to a mozart symphony, compared to kids with seizures who did not listen to the music. This suggests that there may be some effect. Needs more study.
