A member asked:

Can you take xanax (alprazolam) as needed for "freakouts" when prescribed buproprion xl, or does that cause a seizure risk? if xanax (alprazolam) is used once or less per week?

Probably ok: The seizure risk you are concerned about is related to,the bupropion XL , not the interaction with Xanax (alprazolam). The seizure risk increases with dosage so I would speak with your doc about your concerns. Use the Xanax (alprazolam) only as PRNs for "freakouts" rather than a regularly taken med since the risk of dependency is high.
