Many things: an infiltrate, a consolidation, a blood clot or abnormality of lung anatomy. This is always a suspicious finding.

?Hampton's hump: sign refers to a pleural -based wedge shaped opacity in the lungs on a chest x-ray suggesting focal lung infarction from pulmonary embolus. PE??? The best person to ask is the Doctor who ordered the Chest X-ray based on the history and physical exam of the patient.
