A member asked:

Can you get hypothyroid symptoms from low levels of t3 (liothyronine) only? would this be treated?

Doubtful: The T3 (liothyronine) test is not as reliable as the free T4 test and it is not rare to see patients with somewhat low or high T3 (liothyronine) levels whose thyroid is working properly. If your total or free T4 and your TSH are normal I would not be concerned about your T3 (liothyronine). We mainly treat when TSH is elevated.
