Yes: In some traditional cultures--haiti & japan- eggplant is not permitted during pregnancy. There is no scientific reason for this & many do eat it. Be sure to eat it cooked as raw eggplant is not very digestible. Do avoid undercooked animal foods, rare meat, raw oysters, clams, sushi, unpasteurized milk, raw eggs, raw cookie or cake dough. These are truly unsafe.
