Shift work disorder: You're probably describing shift work disorder in which your sleep & work cycle don't coincide w/day & night which then screws up your circadian rhythm. Failing that, see Family Doc or sleep specialist for medicines that might help. Good luck

I am a night shift..: worker as an ER physician and agree with the prior doctor so I will just add two cents personal experience. Apply the KISS principle to day sleep strategies and the basics are eliminate light- simply an eye mask to complete black out shades); and reduce sound-from towels under doors and post it notes for any preventable disturbance (UPS knocking, family door slam etc) up to building a sleep room.
