Yes it can: This change has been reported, so it is entirely possible. But only a biopsy of the new area or the growing lymph node can determine what is going on. Your oncologist should be able to help address this matter for you. Or you can seek a second opinion from another medical oncologist, if you are not totally satisfied with your current oncologist.
