You could have: Never put anything in the ear canal unless directed to by a physician.

Likely went inside: The tubes are a hole in the eardrum.Putting alcohol in the canal will allow it to pass into the middle ear through the tubes and burn the sensitive inner membrane. The effect will pass over time but it is important not to put anything into that ear unless directed by your doc.
