Will putting rubbing alcohol on a child's eardrum with tubes damage it?

Yes: Your child's tubes create a hole which allows middle ear to drain. It also means you should never pour anything in to the ear - especially alcohol.

It can: The tubes in the ear drum allow anything in the ear canal to possibly get inside the ear drum. Alcohol can damage the delicate parts of the ear inside the drum. When a child has ear tubes you should not put anything into the ear canal without your doctor telling you to.
