A member asked:

Can hypothyroidism (hashimoto's) be caused by stress? when i relaxed, my hypo became normal (5 consecutive tests). doc says maybe. see endo doctor?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hypothyroidism: Unlikely due to stress unless it was a huge event that caused a serious stressor on the entire body and multiple organ systems (such as an overwhelming infection). It never hurts to see an endocrinologist when a hormone problem is present.
