My ft4 is low at .68, tsh & ft3 is normal. my primary physician acts like it doesnt matter that its low & recommends to just test it again in 6 months. i have read that ft4 can cause hypothyroidism, hashimotos and pituitary issues?

Low free T4 is the result of, not cause of, the disorders you listed. Your doctor has the right idea. It is not good idea to treat laboratory values. All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Waiting to retest will not do harm.
