I have a cold, and its getting really bad...headache, backache, sorethroath, i am taking amoxicilin and some syrup for coughing...what else can i do?

Cold: These type if symptoms can also be caused by viruses for which there is often not a specific oral agent or agents used as treatment. Often have to use otc analgesics like tylenol (acetaminophen) or Ibuprofen ( if not contraindicated) with the antibiotic to help with symptom relief. If you feel you are worsening after about 48-72h of treatment then you should make an appointment to be re-evaluated.

Virus treatment: Colds are casued by viruses and not likely to get better becasue you are taking anbiotics. First and foremost in treatment is rest and fluids. This includes warm fluids like tea and chicken soup. Hot showers, use a humidifier, have someone give you a back rub can all relieve symptoms. Can use otc Ibuprofen or tylenol (acetaminophen) for body aches. Use a neti pot to relieve sinus/nasal congestion.
