3 year old has a phlegmy cough, but no fever. having trouble sleeping. just started new preschool, so might have picked up a cold. advice for comfort?

Productive cough : Using saline nose drops can clear the nose, sooth the throat & calm the cough so he can sleep better, also keep him hydrated. If the cough persisted or is associated with fever or any trouble breathing, you need to take him to his pediatrician ASAP or go to ER. I hope he feels better soon.

See his doctor: he might have reactive airway disease from exposure to viruses affecting his upper and lower airways, common in some kids, especially when starting preschool due to congestion in class, even with a small number of kids, given the productive cough and sleep disturbance, he needs to see his doctor as he might need bronchodilators and probably antibiotics for upper respiratory infection, take care
