Fungus: Either you have fungus under nails or subtle infection( ingrown toenail). Fungus (mycotic nails) is very common, and sometimes very difficult to treat. An ingrown toenail is an inflamed skin adjacent to the nail, and then gets infected(usually painful, red +swollen). Treatment - soaking foot in warm ,soapy water. For fungus-some treatments work topically. Might need oral meds or Podiatry .
