Splint????: I hope you are in some kind of splint? to protect your wrist. if you are , then you are protected,.so keep it elevated, do not use that hand for anything. in my opinion it is very ridiculous for a patient with a fracture to wait two weeks before seeing a specialist. if I were you I will make calls to other specialist in town to get a sooner appointment. if you do not ,then go back to the ER.

Helping nature: to heal . You have to make it clear which bone is involved . If common major bone , radius is involved waiting 2 wks is too long to see the orthopedic surgeon.see earlier or go to E R . Most likely one of the wrist bone is involved , probably scaphoid .You can expect immolation in splint or small plaster cast for few wks till it heals.

Spint v. cast: I assume that you are in a wrist splint or a forearm cast. I suggest using these plus pain medication which has been prescribed.

Limit ROM & weight: I would be very cautious with the involved wrist to avoid displacing the fracture. That means no weight lifting and extreme ROM. Might consider buying a wrist splint until you get casted by ortho MD if you think you can't follow instructions. Consider pain killers like tylenol (acetaminophen) to deal with pain.
