Not much per se: A single measurement does not mean much although an elevated CH50 may be associated with an infection or inflammation. Why were these obtained?

I think Dr. Ferranti meant to say that CD8 and CD4 cells are different types of T-cells. CD3 appears on "all" T-cells.

A 38-year-old member asked:

What is the meaning of abnormally high (1700) CD4 cell counts?

1 doctor answer1 doctor weighed in
Dr. Jack Mutnick
Allergy and Immunology 17 years experience
Not Much: Unless you have a known or documented immune deficiency, there is very little wrong with an elevated CD4 level. If unsure, have the test repeated to confirm the number is correct, then seek assistance from a reputable immunologist.

A member asked:

Why do drs not feel it is important to medicate a person with high CD4 counts?

2 doctor answers3 doctors weighed in
Dr. Martin Raff
Infectious Disease 56 years experience
Various opinions: There are many doctors who treat HIV disease who will begin medications even when the CD4 cell counts are high. This will depend on a variety of factors, and the actual levels. The philosophy of withholding treatment until levels are low has been disproven and is in fact harmful.
