A few thoughts...: The tooth's position, shape, adjacent teeth, age of the patient, and a radiograph all help in determining if the tooth is a primary or secondary tooth. Your dentist will tell you for sure.

Anatomy: Adult teeth and baby teeth vary dramatically in size, shape, angulation, translucence, and light refraction. Ask your Dentist. Your Dentist will immediately recognize the difference.

Baby tooth: Permanent teeth are approximately twice the size of a baby.. That would be the easiest way to tell.
