A member asked:

I've got a thickened sigmoid colon and waiting to see a gastroenterologist. but i've just noticed i'm bleeding when passing stools wat could this be?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

A thickened sigmoid: colon (on CT scan?) indicates a type of colitis. It can be due to infection, like C. difficile, or due to ulcerative colitis (or proctosigmoiditis, technically) which is immune mediated. Your doctor should start by ordering a stool test for C. difficile.
