Start with ibuprofen: If it is safe for you to take, consider some over the counter ibuprofen. This generally works better than Tylenol (acetaminophen) for tooth pain. The actual cause of the pain will ultimately aid in identifying how to relieve it. There are various sources of tooth pain and a professional evaluation will identify the cause. If you have a dentist with on going treatment, you may need to contact them to inform them.

Tooth pain: Most common cause is infection, but that's not the only possibility. Temporarily take Ibuprofen/Advil/Motrin exactly as per pkg directions and apply col$ compresses. You will have to see your Dentist for differential diagnosis and definitive treatment. If it is infection pain killers will not cure it. Please call your Dentist to be seen ASAP.
