Be more specific: dont understand how proper root planing can cause a hole unless there was decay and the root planing cleaned out the existing soft spot. Have your dentist correct the defect

Treat caries: I assume that you meant that after scaling and root planing an area of caries covered by calculus is now visible. Have the dentist treat this area ASAP.

See dentist. : Scaling and root planning to treat the condition of your gums will not cause a hole in the tooth. It may however expose a cavity or void in a tooth. As the gums shrink, this defect may be exposed. Now the dentist can restore the hole, more easily. Call your dentist with your concern.

No worries: Scaling and root planing is the most common and conservative treatment for gum disease. It is done to remove tartar and hard calculus between teeth. This may result in slightly more open space between the teeth, but not a cavity. If concerned, see your dentist for a visual exam.

Hole: Please return to your Dentist for evaluation and treatment. Root planing will not make a hole in your teeth, but removing tarter may expose an already existing cavity that was covered with tarter, or may allow swollen gums to shrink. The sooner this is evaluated and treated the better.
