What does it mean when your tooth is greying @ the root ? how to save it?

Need root canal txt.: It means the tooth is no longer vital. In other words, the nerve is dead. You will need to have "root canal" treatment. The dentist can also bleach the tooth at the same time so that it will no longer look grey. Call your dentist right away before the tooth abscesses. The procedure can be painless so long as it is treated early, before an abscess develops.

Varies: Could be stained from an old silver filling., or a sign that the nerve may be dying in that tooth. If many of your teeth have the discoloration it could be from something that may have occurred when the tooth was forming. (ie certain antibiotics or a high fever). You should see a dental professional to evaluate.
