Ask for help: It can be a scary discussing personal health issues with parents. In general parents want the best for their children. First ask permission to discuss something important to you. Be authentic and describe what you have been experiencing and for how long. If you are nervous about their response consider discussing that fact as well. Ask them for their support in the process to feel better.

Support may help: Should not be scary. But try connecting first with a family member, friend or trusted adult such as a teacher/school counselor, doctor, coach who knows your parents. Have them sit with you and your parents to talk honestly about what's going on and why you are worried about your mental health. Good you're reaching out for help. Hope this helps.

Fear: Be direct and simple about it. Try no to let fear make decisions for you, including needlessly suffering in silence.
