Expired IUD/pregnant: Your IUD is probably no longer effective in preventing pregnancy and a pregnancy test is option #1 before you see your GYN MD for assessment. If the IUD is still present and you are pregnant there can be serious concerns such as IUD infection or extrusion of the device into the intra abdominal space. Regardless, the IUD will need to be removed at some point.
