A member asked:

I got an intrauterine device installed in april and my periods are very crampy how long will this last ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

May not get better: Depending on what type of iud you got, cramps may or may not get better. Mirena (levonorgestrel) often helps with crampy/heavy periods, but paraguard may make cramping worse. Motrin/aleve may help. If not better or worsen, follow-up with your doc for an evaluation. Good luck.
