Activating SSRI: tend to produce insomnia if given at bedtime and both Paxil (paroxetine) and Prozac are given in the daytime for this reason.

Dose Timing: Paxil (paroxetine) may be given at any time of day as long as the time is generally the same from day to day. For medications like Paxil (paroxetine), I advise patients to take them at the best time of day for their current lifestyle.

Not necessarily: it stays in the system a long time. Since sedation is its most common side effect it is given frequently at bedtime too.

It varies: For many people, paroxetine is sedating, and is best taken before bed; for others it is activating; for others it is neutral. This is difficult to predict, and it is best to determine which works for each person.
