A member asked:

After taking a bowel movement i wiped myself and there was a lot of blood. what does this mean? can it be cancerous?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Blood after BM: Blood following a bowel movement can seen in several conditions, such as an actively bleeding hemorrhoid(s), anal fissure(s) (both can be painful), gastroenteritis (usually associated with diarrhea), diverticular disease, or colorectal cancer, or conditions such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis. Rectal bleeding should not be ignored - see your doctor.
