HIVAN: HIV and renal disease is a large group. There is HIVAN which squally happens in certain race and patients have low CD4 count and high viral load. Most often a renal biopsy is needed to confirm histology. Presence of HIV and kidney disease doesn't mean the person has HIVAN, medications can also be the cause. See a kidney doc and discuss these issues.
