Muscle injury: The paraspinal muscle groups are muscles running along both sides of the spinal column. You have numerous small, individual paraspinal muscles that help control and stabilize movements between the vertebrae. Edema is swelling basically. Physical trauma, infection and a number of other factors can lead to edema as well.
