See ENT doc.: Hearing loss can have many causes. Some may be correctable or improved. Your best bet? See an Ear, Nose & Throat doc & see what's possible in your case. I suspect though that if you had something easily treatable, it would've been discussed with you before this. We make new advances every day, so there may be hope. Hearing loss: Greetings. Hearing loss occurring in only 1 eR following an infection may not be treatable with a cochlear implant. This obviously depends on a host of variables. You will need to see your ENT doctor for a detailed history and physical examination. He/she may refer you to a sub specialist called a neurotologist who performs these procedures quite often.
