Bell's palsy...: ...is often (not always) from herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV1) afftecting the facial nerve. If he has recurrent oral herpes (cold sores, fever blisters), he could transmit HSV1 at those times. Otherwise litle or no risk of passing it on and he doesn't need to avoid kissing you or anyone else. You and your child could have blood tests to see if already have HSV1; if so, you can't get it again.
