The best answer is that cough syrups in children cause more side effects than improvement in the cough. I would recommend a teaspoon of honey, as your child is over a year old and risks are lower. Taking multiple cold preparations can only compound the side effects.

Benadryl is an antihistamine and should not be used for treatment of an upper respiratory infection. The side effects include drowsiness. The other cough preparation is not more effective than saline.Rinsing nasal passages with saline and keeping the head propped up with two pillows at night may reduce post nasal drip and cough. Keep her well hydrated and watch for fever. Discuss with Peds.
