Confidentiality: Talking to one's doctor is always confidential. But if there is depression that is discussed i always encourage communication between child and parent and will do everything possible to facilitate the conversation.

40 year old?: Your question information indicates you're 40 years old, & i don't know whether this is accurate or not. If you are truly 40 this is adult age -- and you can discuss whatever you want with your physician. If you're actually a minor and wrote an incorrect age, you can still speak confidentially with your doctor. However, s/he will also want your parents involved so that you have support @ home.
