How do you treat depression, talk to family doctor or psychology?

Psychologist: Hello, I highly recommend seeking help through a psychologist or psychotherapist. Research continues to show us that the optimum treatment for depression is psychotherapy, and effects last longer than anything else.

You do both.: If feeling depressed it is important to let your primary physician know. There could be extenuating circumstances causing the depression. You should also contact a psychiatrist for a meds consult to see if medication would be helpful. And you should contact a psychologist to help you to determine the best course of treatment, ie talk therapy, CBT, or DBT, or a combination of treatments.

Many options: A counselor, therapist, clinical social worker, psychologist, pastoral counselor, primary care doctor or psychiatrist are just a few options.
