Sort of: There is a medicine called Actigall (ursodiol) that helps some people. It only works on certain types of gallstones, and if it works, it is needed for life because the stones will re-form if it is stopped. Nothing is necessary if you are not having problems with it though. Most people who have symptoms decide to have the GB removed.
