"Diabetic": 1: No Dad is not "diabetic". 2: We may all be "pre-diabetic". Younger folks with type 1 diabetes might call themselves diabetic. Older folks are not "diabetic" - they have diabetes and need to work diligently to get rid of it. Yes it is possible and is necessary. Have Dad follow this up with an Endocrinologist.

Based on: The American Diabetes Association criteria, that's a normal fasting blood sugar but a prediabetes range of hbA1c. Neither are close to a diabetes range diagnosis.

Fasting sugar is 110 to 115. HBA1c last yr 5.9, i managed to reduce it to 5.6. But Fasting sugar is still 110 to 115 and random sugar after 2 hr is 125 to 132. Am I prediabetic? What should I do to reduce fasting sugar. My father was diabetic too.
