Talk to your doc: first i will talk to the doctor that did the colonoscopy, to make sure you do not have any complication related to the colonoscopy. second i will talk to my GI and my surgeon about surgery. definitly surgery is not indicated for IBS regardless of how much pain you are experiencing. second there is a limited indication for surgery for diverticulosis. pain is not an indication for surgery.

Not enough info: Many factors go into the decision to recommend an operation, including a complete history, exam, lab and X-ray data, as well as risks and benefits of all the different options based on you individual situation. Your surgeon is the best one to know all those factors.
