A member asked:

Have a 24 yo f w/prosopagnosia since birth (acc to mother). pt also has aspergers. suggestions re treating face blindness? mri neg. no head trauma.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Neuropsychologist: I'd want 2 make sure 4 myself that this is face blindness vs difficulty reading emotions, which, as U know, is common for ppl w/ Aspergers,. A neuropsychologist could help make this determination. But whether prosopagnosia or alexithyimia, helping the pt learn compensatory strategies is impt. Individually tailored strategies involving ppl & situations from their own lives work best.
