A member asked:

Can trauma to the face cause blindness?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sometimes: Blindness can occur from severe nerve damage to the optic nerve, rupture of the eye, bleeding in the eye from the blow, retinal detachment which was unrecognized and not fixed and a number of other less common issues. Always best to be evaluated by your ophthalmologist immediately after any significant facial trauma.
