Extreme cold: Get rest, drink plenty of fluids, for fever take ibuprofen/advil/motrin, for congestion take decongestant like sudafed, tylenol (acetaminophen) cold or nyquil day/night. For thick nasal mucous or thick phlegm use Mucinex or Robitussin (mucolytic). If the nasal mucous turns yellow/green or if you develop headaches, very high fevers or other worrisome symptoms seek treatment with a local primary care doctor or ent.
