Infected??: If the wound is infected, a culture and sensitivity should be done on the fluid from the wound. The appropriate antibiotic can be prescribed based upon the results of the culture. A broad spectrum antibiotic can be prescribed preventatively, however a medical history has to be done (list of meds being taken, allergies and any health issues) prior to prescribing.

Take to his doctor: He needs to be seen by his doctor....may be simple and antibiotics would take care....depending on how long he has diabetes, how well it was controlled, degree of vascular and nerve damages there....this type of stuff can become very serious.....his blood glucose needs to be checked and be under controlled for a good outcome
