Surgery: Unfortunately ovarian cysts that are larger than 5 cms will most likely need surgery. Torsion is also a more concerning risk

Hydration,OTC&time: These can be very painful. Maintain hydration (which is easy to forget to do when in pain.) You can try Acetaminophen. If this dose not work, you can try Aleve (naproxen) or Advil (as long as you are not pregnant, i.e. recent last period was normal and no sexual activity since then.) Avoid sexual intercourse at the time. Review with your OB/GYN, especially if discharge, fever or worsening.

Take it easy: You should refrain from excessive physical activity as cysts in this size range have a tendency to torse or twist causing excessive pain. Should pain worsen significantly this may be a sign of a medical emergency and you need to seek care in the ER or your with your GYN who is following you
