Get throat checked: I have seen epiglotittis, and it can rapidly progress, and can cause fatality. Patients are distressd and don't even want to lean back, as it cuts off airway. If there is any airway apprehension, call 911. Thankfully the frequency of this entity has gone down dramatically following introduction of H influenza vaccine, tho absess is possible. Get seen and treated.
