Yes: if the bilirubin is going up, then the liver is obstructed and cannot get rid of it and.. is failing but can be fixed perhaps by putting a tube through to the intestines. If the liver enzymes are elevated and the proteins the liver puts out (albumin and clotting proteins) are low, then it is failing.
