One of my adult teeth (lateral incizor) seems to be slightly loose. i am currently wearing retainers. can this be the cause? i doubt its gum disease.

Loose tooth: see a dentist and have this tooth and your entire mouth evaluated. A well fitted and maintained retainer will not make your tooth loose. It takes a disease process or trauma to loosen a tooth. Get this checked.

Orthodontist: Please consult with the orthodontist who made the retainer. Your age isn't even listed, so other than being male and wearing a retainer, there is very little information we have to help with a diagnosis.

It is normal: You should wear the retainer on a regular 24/7 schedule, and your teeth will re-tighten. See your orthodontist if concerned.

Loose tooth: A 29 year old should not have loose teeth. There may be a problem with the design or fit of your retainer, you may have traumatic occlusion, you may have gum disease with bone loss, etc. Please return to the Dentist or specialist Orthodontist who made your retainer for reevaluation. referral to a gum/bone specialist, a Periodontist, may be in order.
