HIV: A test done 12 weeks or 3 months after exposure to the virus provides highly accurate results. In rare cases it can take up to six months to test positive using standard tests. If you still feel anxious about your results a repeat test now would be reasonable. If you were not positive after 3 months it is unlikely you will be after 6 months.
