What are the risks and side effects of uterine embolisation for fibroids? can it shut down ovarian function and trigger menopause?

Rarely: Overall, the risk of complications from uterine fibroid embolization (UFE) is quite low. Infection is the most serious risk, sometimes requiring hysterectomy. There is a small risk of premature menopause, seemingly higher in women over 40. It is probably more difficult to get pregnant after UFE. But overall it is an effective, safe procedure for symptomatic fibroids.
